Here are Captain Keith's Official Documents.  Why are these important?  Because they help you distinguish between a captain that is operating legally and in your best interests, versus those that are cutting corners--possibly at your expense!

USCG Captain's License

Captain Keith has a full "6-Pack" License that qualifies him to run a charter boat up to 100 miles offshore.  Note that this is not a Florida "Guides" License which would not qualify a guide to charter in saltwater--including our Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon.

Commercial Business Permit

Our local saltwater inshore waters are protected areas that are controlled with a special permit, called a Commercial Business Permit.  It insures that the captain has the proper state and county licenses, registrations, and insurance.  DO NOT fish in the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River Lagoon with a captain that cannot produce this permit for you, as it leaves you liable to fines if you are caught!

Certified Casting Instructor Certificate from the Federation of Fly Fishers

The FFF is the only internationally recognized organization dedicated to instructing proper fly casting.  If you want to learn how to fly fish, be sure you are using a certified FFF instructor!

Saltwater License

This is the specialty Fishing License that covers your fishing activities.  Some guides will want you to buy your own, but a quality captain will have this license that covers you with no additional cost.  Again, if a captain does not have this onboard he is leaving you liable for some significant fines if you are not covered by a license.

County Occupational License

In order to protect you from someone unscrupulous, the State of Florida requires a Captain to have an Occupational License in the County where he or she lives.  If someone you are trying to charter does not have this, then they are operating illegally.

First Aid and CPR Certification

These are required to get your Captain's license, but many don't keep them current--Captain  Keith is proud to show his is up-to-date!

US Coast Guard Mandated

Drug Testing Program

This card shows that I am periodically tested for drug use.  This is an important document, since there are captains out there that only get tested when their coast Guard License is up for renewal every 5 years.  Why?  I'll leave that up to you.  I emphasize safety on the water, and that includes a captain that has no drug or alcohol dependencies.
